Hmmmm, it would appear that I am in a minority of one. I found the game fun intially but repetitive and unsatisfying after a few rounds. I'm sure I'll play it a bit but there's no way it'll make a huge dent in my TF2 time.
Tried it on a couple of settings. You're absolutely right that it's too easy on anything but Expert. I also tried it on single player out of curiosity and that makes it easier still.
To be honest though, TF2 aside, I'm really not very good at FPSs even though I love to play them more than any other game. A lack of challenge was certainly not the problem.
I just found that in the rounds I played there were only two settings - hot and cold. Either I was absolutely swarmed with zombies and just ended up flailing around in all directions or I was calmly picking them off one by one as they don't provide any challenge individually. Whilst being swarmed certainly provides the emotional response of panic and desperation, I didn't actually find it much fun.
I also felt like the "boss" zombies were inconsistent with the scenario and were only there to provide more challenge and variety. I couldn't get over the fact that they only exist because this is a game.
Of course all this is based on a relatively short sample and I'm not going to give up on it just yet. I was super-excited about this game as on paper it looks awesome. I just couldn't held feeling a little disappointed at first but that could well be in large part because of my high expectations.
Fair enough. I would say that single player is fairly easy even on expert as the bots are very good at not shooting you and each other! Apparently there is an even harder difficulty in the full version of the game, which I'm glad to hear as I've managed to complete the demo on expert quite a few times now with 3 other players.
Personally I've been absolutely blown away by this game. I love zombies and I love working in a team so for me it doesn't really get much better than this! I've spent countless hours playing Zombie Panic Source over the last year in anticipation of this and my expectations were very high. So far I've yet to tire of the demo but the full release can't come soon enough!
Have you played with many UKMD members yet and been using voice comms? Game is even better when you have a team that communicates well and isn't stingy with the pills and medkits. Will need to have a game with you sometime

from the very few runs i've had so far, its the panic and utter failing thats the best bit of this game. creating moments to talk about with your mates.
"and there was that time you shot at that zombie, but |UKMD| ROB jumped in the way and you incapacitated him by accident, and while helping him up you were grabbed by a smoker and zakmal got belched on by a boomer and we got surrounded and it all went to hell"
moments to remember, like the first time you exit the sewers in oblivion, or the marines turning on you in half-life, and i have a feeling, that with good friends, and a fair few maps, this game is going to create an absolute bucketload of such memorable, talkaboutative* moments

Played a few games with the UKMD peps Major Jim Rob they seem to be helping me up all the time after leaving me on my own to be swamped by zombies We have a big advantage over most we all know each others weak points
I can't wait for versus mode, I prefer to kill without guns on most games, much more satisfying. I love "The hidden", shame it's pretty old and just a mod. Hunter + rooftops = Fun.
was syxx, nades and then dec vs me, was alright, quite fun, but ruined the atmosphere a bit when you could see zombies spawning in front of you, not hidden out the way.
Like I say I love this game and yes I'm l4d addicted whore from now on Like Syxx said it's great when u have good teammates who will help u out when u r in trouble and give u med if they don't need it and u do.
Few times I played with sum unknown players and they r selfish or they just don't want to help. They see be grabbed by Smoker/Hunter and they don't do any. So If u r lucky u will play with people like Syxx who will always come and save the day, J!m who will be bait so u can shot Hunter when he jumps on him, Rob who will run when see Tank but shouting in mic RUN RUN RUN so u can do it also, Zakmal who will, when u kill all the horde and survive shot u coz u might be infected Nades who will just for fun activate car alarm and then run to safe room, Nick who will give such comments that I have time to laugh even when get killed
I hope more UKMD will get this game so we can play it together and enjoy

Ah yeah you won't be able to do that in the proper version. Basically me and Nades were flying about as ghosts and had to find an out of site spot to spawn, but if we pointed somewhere we could spawn an NPC Infected Boss anywhere, even right in front of you!
I think Boomer might be my favourite, it's so fun hiding round a corner and then puking up on a Survivor as they walk by

Well I had a play on the demo last night but I hated it, don't know if I'm going to like this game or not?
Not helped by the fact that my computer struggles with it.
Only played in single player mode as I go bored waiting for any games to come up.
Then as Blisset said, dumb zombies that just stand around or a million of them at once. Shear numbers can fun as I used to enjoy Serious Sam in co-op mode (used to love playing that for total madness), but didn't enjoy this game.
Well the only thing I can say to that is that in my opinion, the game is only worth playing with 3 other humans and on the hardest difficulty, otherwise it's too easy and boring!

I had a run through this morning with Gwee and Dec1211, it is definitely better with fellow players, especially when the [censored] hits the fan on expert.
mmmm....Will probably be on from about half 7 but I think I need to pick my brother up at about half 8 so I should be able to play non-stop at around 8:45.
Feel free to start without me though if you can get 4 players together!

wow, played earlier, and spent so long hanging around on the rooftop at start of game some zombies were climbing up the drainpipes to get to me, funny and scary at the same time
Given that your thoughts seem to echo mine initially, I thought I'd just give an update.
Firstly, it is definitely more fun playing with 3 other UKMDers. On Monday I played for about an hour with Nades, Syxx and Robert. Unfortunately I was sans mic for the night so couldn't contribute fully but the chat definitely improves the experience.
Secondly, I generally enjoyed the game much more on second attempt. There are a fair few nuances that you don't really appreciate at first.
Thirdly, I think the most important thing to realise about L4D is that it's about moments. It's not a game in which every second is fun (which I think TF2 is). It's about the sudden unexpected event, the moment of panic and the rush of overcoming the odds. The great thing is that, because of the AI director, these will be different in every game. You might not enjoy one game because those moments don't arrive but the next one could be the best game you've ever played. It's the kind of game where you have experiences that the 4 people involved will remember and reminisce over long after it's over. That's why it's best played with friends.
That said, I do still have concerns. I can see it being the kind of game that I'll play once a week when the people I want to play with are available but I can't imagine playing it every night like I would with TF2. The actual game mechanics are a bit too samey I fear.
Also, the great unknown is that this is only a demo so far. We've only seen 2 levels and the variety and longevity of the game is going to lie or die by the design of the additional levels. Experience with Valve suggests they'll nail it but we'll have to wait and see for certain.
Finally, my biggest concern about this game is the risk of L4D cliques forming. Because it's a four player game, there is a risk that infrequent players or the terminally crap like myself will find that the people they would like to play with will be part of a regular gang of four. I'm sure that the game will only improve the more you play with the same people. We'll just have to see how that pans out.
Sorry about the ridiculously long post. I just wanted to encourage you to stick with the game as it'll definitely grow on you. I also think that L4D is a pretty unique experience and I'm fascinated to see how it turns out and what people get from it.
as i have waited for this game for ages and the 1st time i heard about a game that is a co-op 4 player survival horror online against zombies that RUN at you instead of walk...... i had wet dreams night after night at the fact that some1 had thought of this and to my pleasure it was valve.....
+ the guns... they actually have an effect on zombies....(not like zombie panic)
cant wait till full game comes out as i wont be off this no matter how many maps it has.. just gettin overwhelmed by zombie from every direction is a hell of alot of fun to try and survive the damn thing.... overall this game will rock the socks off every gamer...... AND there is already a mall map being made.... cant effin wait!!!!!!!!

MAJOR RUN RUN RUN TANK TANK TANK ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
lol classic. had some good games with a few of you. UKMD peeps know how to use teamwork thats for sure.
Also this is just the demo. I have 9 hours racked up on it already. When the real game comes out with all the amazing new levels etc. I will be on it for ages.
Most of us are playing on expert. This will be impossible in the fuill game. This is just the first two bits which as most games are the easiest. It will most definetly get progressively harder. I be reckoning that Normal or maybe advanced will be the order of the day.
Look forward to owning the horde in the futrue with many of you.
i also like the fact they can come from anywhere.......
i had a game with blisset, nick and some1 else (sorry i cant remember)
lets just say the whole thing about teamwork went thru the window..... blisset and nick followed me through into the 1st area and i got a few rounds shot at my ass thanks to blisset... i then got picked up by blisset and shot back down by nick in the space of 2 mins
fun times!
im up for another game soon lolage

I have to admit after getting to play with some other UKMD-ers on the UKMD server, yes it is great fun, incredible fun.
But only then, as the whole lobby waiting thing is totally rubbish, I tried it once and waited for players, then waited to connect, then got kicked 'server shutting down'. This is not what I want from my gaming time.
But if I can play on UKMD servers with the fun people that game here, then I'll be happy

other player was UKMD louis cypher, and the reason you ended up on the floor so much is because you run around in front of us when we are shooting
Just had a funny moment while playing single player. @ the part on the first level where you drop down the hole, I went first and as soon as I landed and before the others jumped down the three comp controled guys got hit by a wave of hoard, hunter, smoker and boomer, which incapacitated all three of them and there was nothing i could do, i couldnt find a way back up, so i left them there and they died. lol.

all lies i tell thee!!!!! my 1337 hs hax only work on you jim.... dunno y?!?! and ive never said sorry so much in my life! ( I EVEN SAID SORRY TO A ZOMBIE, i thought i shot a teammate)

p.s. FYI the lobby system works out better than a normal browsing server list since SO many people will play, FOUR players to a server, a couple million people and about 500 THOUSAND servers is alot of servers to scan through (counterstrike doesnt even have that many (i think))
its quicker and easier since you can play with friends simpler

I Find it hard to complete the single player game, as the bots are so damn annoyingley stupid. I would glady take getting shot by my own team, as in multiplayer, over 'teammates' not having the sense to stay in the same room as me or wont help defend the minigun user!!!
