I've just installed the latest NVIDIA drivers (186.18). I have a couple of 8800GTXs in SLI running under XP. All of my other current games are fine. However, TF2 flickers between my character dying and moving to respawn. This happens a lot No problem during actual play. I know TF2 is optimized for SLI, so I thought some incompatibility might be the cause.

Not a big problem but I just wondered if it was happening to anyone else or if it was a known bug.

Cheers

if you have triple buffering on, do you also have "maximum pre-rendered frames" set to 3 and vice versa? (nVidia control paned -> manage 3d settings)

Nice to know I'm not on my own. Thanks for the replies, all.

@Tito - I have "Max. Pre Rendered Frames" set to "3" and "Triple Buffering" set to "Off". What's your recommended configuration? Even though it didn't work for Garbled it may work for me since, as far as I can tell, PC's all have minds of their own

Many thanks.

I'm getting the same, running latest drivers on my 9800GX2. Interestingly, I also get an insane amount of flickering if I set shadows to High in World of Warcraft.

Does seem like the common factor is SLI, though. I might disable multi-GPU and see if that makes a difference... not that it's ideal, of course.

I had this too after about 3hrs of continous gaming OR buy swicthing to the weapons screen in TF2, an update of the drivers solved it.

so if updating the drivers caused the bug
why not go back to the previous version.

there will be no enhancements for 8800 cards now anyways.

oh
and testing an 8800 gts in my pc for a friend who has had problesm with it.
not running sli but offloaded whatever physx resources are used to it and it seems rather good
although it may be just one of them things that i am thinking its good just coz i stuck another card in the box.

heyho, little 8800 gts is hot as hell compared to the 8800gtx above it.

I'd just like to say that I experience none of the aforementioned problems with my quaint single 4850 from ATI

ah riley the reason for this is simple

ATI only release new drivers every 6 months or so.

Thanks again, chaps. Since the latest drivers caused it, I've got nowhere to go but backwards. From all your replies, I now know this isn't a sign that my GPUs are about to explode, so I can happily live with it D

Cheers.
