This is a guide/list to help new |UKMD| members deal with hackers, as nothing annoys me more than a hacker realising he's being watched then leaving the server..

• 1. Before recording the demo...

Best way to start is to change to spectator, and find the person who is hacking, At this point, you need to have the console enabled, you can enable the console by pressing escape, then clicking options, then keyboard, then advanced, then you click the "enable developer console" button. When all that is sorted we can move onto the next point.

• 2. Recording the demo

Bring up the console, the default button is `, which is below the escape button and left to the 1 button on normal keyboards. Once you have the console open you're going to start the demo. The command to start the demo "record [demoname]" where [demoname] is replaced by what you want to call the demo, I usually just use the name of the player for the demo name. So say jim was hacking, we open up the console with ` then we'd type record safarijim, Once the demo is recording we have another command to enter, that is sb_status. This command is for us to be able to submit to steambans and also to verify their steam id. Once you feel you've got enough footage type stop in the console to end the demo.

• 3, When you've recorded the demo

Now what you need to do is watch back the demo to see if it recorded correctly. The command to play demos is, unsurprisingly, 'play [demoname]', so going with the earlier example, to play it back, you bring up the console with ` then type in playdemo safarijim. Then you can either send it directly to Moggie, or send it to one of the Core admins. Either contact them through steam friends or through the website.

• 4. What not to do

Definitely do not scream out in the chatbox in game that there's a hacker, if you think you've spotted one use admin chat to let possible core admins online know, then get a demo. If you scream hacker in the chatbox, you'll probably get a silence, so make sure you read thisd then you'll know.

Only one thing to say really. To play the demo back is 'play [demoname]' so for Jim's it would be ' play safarijim'
