Damn ,this is hard being as there are so many pure l337ness games out there. Some of mine will have to be:

1. Zelda: Ocarina of Time
2. StarCraft: Brood War
3. the Mario Kart series (the one on teh Wii is great )
4. Fallout series (3 looks to be dissapointing )
5. probably Goldeneye
6. Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts
7. Definitely Final Fantasy 7
and I'm gonna leave the last few decisions open while I make my mind up

I was looking for a "S.T.A.L.K.E.R" thread (which I couldn't find) and stumbled upon this. Who can resist a list

This skewed list probably needs a word of explanation. I've spent my gaming life almost exclusively on PC single player First Person Shooters. I'm enjoying TF2 tremendously, as my first MP experience, but don't feel I'm qualified to rate it here. Anyway ...

1 Half-Life 2 + Eps (nuff said)
2 Deus Ex (NOT "Invisible War" ; very nearly #1))
3 Far Cry (Hard as heck but hugely satisfying)
4 Painkiller (I can't justify liking this as much as I do but see Yahtzee's review)
5 No One Lives Forever series (extremely witty with great set pieces)
6 System Shock 2 (remains the scariest game I've played)
7 BioShock (The most beautiful environment ever)
8 Half-Life Generations (still cuts it 10 years on)
9 Portal ("This was a triumph ....")
10 Duke Nukem 3D (You've got to love any game that includes the line "I'm gonna rip off your head and **** down your neck")

And just outside the Top 10:
- SiN Episodes: Emergence (a great old-school shooter; pity they couldn't make more)
- STALKER series (great gameplay but buggy as heck)
- Crysis (ruined by the terrible vehicle sections and the alien ship)
- Timeshift (totally derivative but playing with time was so much fun )

I was so disappointed with Invisible War. I've completed the original Deus Ex so many times and still love it but I gave up quite early on with Invisible War due to extreme crapness

Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy There's a couple of blasts from the past. I was recovering from a bit of a nasty illness and my wife and mum clubbed together to buy me a 48k ZX Spectrum AND printer for when I got out of hospital. Anyone remember the silvered paper you had to use for the printer?
