Its gone under quite a bit of discussion in TeamSpeak, following on from the much earlier thread, would YOU be up for joining us for a LAN Party?
A couple of points:
Location: Most like in mid country somewhere, most likely Birmingham
Timing: Sometime in November, preferably around a school holiday and on a weekend for sure.
Cost: This has yet to be investigated
Kit: Unless its a dedicated centre where kit (and hopefully beer) is provided, you woudl ahve to bring your own gaming rigs
Games: Anything is up for n00b'in

Great idea that LAN party, however I will be unable, and certainly not permitted by GF, to attend that.
New n00b on my block needs attention, time-off from work is limited...

Sometimes when I am sitting alone in my room with no one around, I will randomly say, "I know your listening", so if no one is listening I didn't lose anything, and if someone is I just gave them a heart attack.
I seriously suggest looking at what Dunk posted, and going on from there. Maybe November would be too early though to organise properly? I was thinking, you could do something late December/Early January as a christmas/new year type thing?
Still think it's a great idea, and could really turn out well.
Quick note. . . Victims could attend right, coz i'm not sure if i'll be UKMD by the time it's all sorted, and it all sounds so exciting

Would prefer to get the train down so my attendance would depend if I have to bring my PC or not. Driving is a possibility but I'd rather not drive down as I'd get hopelessly lost
Don't think I have any holidays left for this year but that shouldn't be too much of a problem if it's going to be on a weekend.
I like the look of that place Dunk posted as it has a bar! Regarding the idea of holding this nearer the end of the year, remember that a lot of people have family commitments, etc around that time and are generally skint! If people think November is too soon then maybe sometime in the 1st quarter of next year would be better.

Sounds cool Moggie. Only a quick train ride to birmingham for me Carrying my rig may prove a problem. but i'm sure i can find a way. lol. Oh, and gimme a couple months notice. Shouldn't be too bad if I've changed jobs by then

As long as I have enough notice its no problem for me to attend and I might be able to 'persuade' my son to transfer his allegiance into UKMD on this basis as well!
Bringing the rigs would be no problem and I could probably accommodate 2/3 others (+rigs) in the car if people wanted lifts from Oxford/Swindon area.

I would be up for this and there are lots of decent comments here
but in summary
(1) Someplace where we need not bring our PC's looks prefered. certainly for us that would need to do some serious travel. (2) After Christmas is a better idea, i start new job soon so November would be a non starter

I would rather we all rock up, play some games, have fun and get drunk. rather than having Moggie dealing with a server,admins doing there thing. And does anyone have any experience of setting one of these up?
flights for Jack and me would be apprx £100. would need to source some accomodation as well
I'm with Dunk, I think the Omega Sektor sounds like a plan; it gives a definite place to host it and no worries about setting up/lugging rigs etc. Only slight concern is that they don't seem to list TF2 anywhere Now stop noobing around in the midlands and come down to London, the lot of you!

TF2 is not a problem, as I'll take a box with the server files if needed

But, I have a brother who plays games and could probably better afford two tickets to Birmingham than my parents could. The only thing is, if he did take me all the way to Birmingham for an LAN, he would want to join in, probably. Could a non-UKMD play as a sort of guest of honour or something?
Even then, I still have to hope he won't have work and that his wife doesn't mind
