Runs on my pc better though, everything very high 4xAA and at a decent clip. couldn't tell the difference between dx10 and dx9, although dx10 doesnt have the option for HDR lighting, only bloom. can't comment on the gameplay, haven't given it enough of a go, though i have been in a few skirmishes already and survived! whoop! not like me           | ||

(rock textures at mid range, "godrays", etc.) | ||

I put everything up to ultra that could, and then put it back into dx10 with 8xAA and i get an average of 31 fps in the benchmarking tool it comes with. woot | ||

Started on normal, thought it was too easy, tried Infamous, was a lil bit too tough on certain bits. Doing it Hardcore style now As far as the graphics go on my pc (everything on medium, too bad) it still even looks quite nice. The thing though I'm very surprised of is the ridiculously low hard drive space it takes. Less then 4 gigs! while on the box it says you need 12 gig free Now, here comes a big wall of text, talking about the game play. These are my opinions, and perhaps not all of them are entirely correct since I haven't finished the game yet, but this is what I've encountered so far. (50% on Hardcore) First impression: Awesome! although when u play it a little bit longer imo there are some crappy things about it. First of all, from the information I gathered from previews n movies n such, you would be able to really choose a side of the UFLL or APR. How it is? you start with the UFLL, can do missions from both sides, and still are treated indifferently. Then you murder the boss from the UFLL in the northern district (at least in my game), and still are welcomed warmly by the UFLL in the south, after u killed the APR northern boss.... Like, WTF? Then in the southern district, it goes the exact same way! As if nothing has happened in the north! 2nd, the guard posts. You can murder the entire guard post, or oasis, or whatever part or area as many times as you want, can burn it completely, shoot it into a million pieces or blow it up with a thousand explosives, if you return 10 minutes later, you will find everything in the original state.... Again, WTF? 3rd, the missions themself, and here are multiple parts. The missions from the UFLL and APR are allright, mostly different, nice objectives. However, they ALLWAYS say you are on you're own, the ppl from the faction you are doing the mission for will be hostile to you aswell as the one from the opposing faction. There is not a single mission where you have allies except from your buddies. WHY!? Again this is the problem of a side. From what i've heard before the game, i'd suggested you'd pick a side, and become an ally for that faction. Instead of that, you just are a freelancer, hostile to everybody except those in the city and you're buddies. They don't even talk to you about all the ppl you've murdered from their factions. And thats imo one of the biggest flaws in the game. Never you encounter ppl who are friendly to you, everybody shoots at you. And next to that, where are the frikkin civilians of the entire area!?!?!? Every person you encounter is either from the UFLL or APR, and if its not in the city, you will be shot (except from the underground ppl, which leads me to the next thing) Then there are the underground missions for medicine. Any variation please? Every single underground mission is exactly the same, even the various huts have the exact same ppl in it who say the exact same thing, require the exact same thing, and give you the exact same thing to do. Go there, give the passports to them, kill the APR / UFLL peeps around their house, and ull get ur medicine. WTF? they became lazy with the thinking of missions? did they make the underground missions last? And the same is with the missions from the weapon shops. Every time its to blow up a truck from a convoy, which is said to carry a large amount of weapons which need to be destroyed. Some variation here wouldn't be harmful. Next to that, have you ever seen only a single box on those trucks? Like, what the heck are they moving anyway? Then the missions from the telephone poles. Ok, its just an assassination mission, i accept that, but some variation in how they are given. As if you are talking to a [censored] robot.... Then the last thing, and they say it to be the best part of Far Cry 2. Fire. The fire is nice, it burns, true. But why the [censored] does it go out so [censored] fast!?!?!?! Take a piece of grassland, burn it, and in no time it'll go out! You end up with a circle of charred grass. WHERE THE [censored] ARE THE SQUARE KILOMETERS OF FOREST ENGULFED IN FLAMES!? I just don't take the trouble of burning a camp to the ground to kill the ppl, just because it won't work anyway. As i just said, the fire goes out way too fast, it hardly gets to the camp and its gone already, and second, you can't see where the wind is coming from! You have to put something on fire for that in the first place. Grass always points in a direction, based on YOUR view point. It always goes to the right. So, are you looking north, the wind comes from the west. Are you looking south, the wind comes from the east. WTF? Then there's the weapon jamming system. I like it. It's simply genius. But. The weapons you pick off from dead guys are mostly the ones that jam or go boom in your face, right? Now, have you EVER seen any of THOSE weapons jam or go boom in the hands of those guys? BIG FLAW! (imo) Don't get me wrong, its a cool game, i like it, i keep playing it, but it could have been sooooo much more.
