Well ofc nothing can go smooth so I have a question about my huge cooler.

What direction of the fan flow is correct the one away from back of the case or the other looking @ it (image 1 or 2)

Also as my dear friend gave me 4 sticks of DDR2 memory when i installed the MB and start to read the user I realise that this stupid MB can support DDR2 and DDR3. So that would not be sum problem IF my precious MB had 4 DDR2 slots but not it have 4 DDR3 slots and only 2 DDR2 so now I have to buy 2 DDR2 with 2Gb or I must buy DDR3. I think I will get DDR2 coz DDR3 is very expensive and I don't have money atm.

Well maj just a quick response but in the case of my intel stock cooler, the fan on my stock duo blows air into my cpu, mine blows in opposite of yours, ie upwards not sideways but it has a exit fan at the top with a fan at bottom blowing cool air in.

So i would reccomend the the fan is sucking in cool air to the heat spreader and your exit fan at the top would also be blowing the out of the case aswell(other one visable in picture)

so id go for pic one, blowing air over heat spreader, and then out at the back of the case via other fan, hope this is what you want anyway.

also ddr2, yer ddr3 is expensive

Maj
can blow either way but i would stick with front to back.
this will pull cool air over the memory module and through the cooler and then your fan will exhaust this out the case.
gaving it the other way wouldnt work as your rear case fan and your psu fan will be blowing air out the case whilst the zalman will be trying to pull it in, not efficent.
got to say, that zalman thing is a work of art, had my hands on one a few months back and it was lurvely. have a zalman cooler on my old 6600gt which had a really noisy stock cooler, the zalman was a godsend, cool and quiet!

ddr3 would be good, but agree with what you are saying about cost. memory prices always come down when new ram is released. still hoping to bump my pc upto 8gb, but new job and no commision at the moment means I cant!

Most cases with double fan installations are best front to back.

If you have ddr2, that's fine. The extra cost of ddr3 isn't worth it at the moment.

major I would vent the air out of the case rather than pull in air - ie. I would have the cooler facing the opposite way to your pic. Do you have a fan pulling or pushing from the front?

Not really sure but shouldn't all fans be blowing in the same direction? Otherwise they would be 'fighting' against each other.

Think so Alex. But I will do the front to back

And I know that DDR3 is not worthy and will get 2 sticks of 2Gb DDR2, so basicly I will just change 4 sticks with 2

Thx for reply guys

Much appriciate

alex
you are correct
its just the job the fans do that changes
ie some suck
others blow

and you should have more blowing hot air out than cold air in, this helps the naturaly convection process.
on this note lets spam Majors thread with

How many fans does your pc have
me 1st
1 front
3 side(2 exhaust 1 intake)
1GPU
1 CPU
1 Exhaust
1 PSU

still has space for 1 on top and another on the side! and remarkably thanks to my cheap little manual fan controller, the pc is very quiet when idle and not too bad when case fans at 100% (only when gpu gets to 80% is it getting too loud)
