Below is my first ever attempt at making a sig using Photoshop.

Just wondered what you guys thought. Comments, ideas.

I know the text could be a lot better, but I've only been using Photoshop about 2 hours!

Cheers Nick. I agree about the text, but it was the most suiting font I had!

All the others just looked a bit dull!

Robert / Rob-D.Eagle is also handy at sig making.

I might follow your example Blue Screen, and 'try' to make myself a sig.

No Blue screen don't come too me for sigs, otherwise you won't learn, you can ask for help or advice on what too do with your sigs, and what program are you using btw

EDIT: Just noticed you said Photoshop, then your best asking Rob or Dec for help I can only do a few things on photoshop nothing for sigs though

Like the sig, but I asked Rob Deagle to do me one, and he came up trumps!
I am a bit of a web designer (see my post) but not great at photoshop, etc!

Nice piccie, but to go with your name, I would have done the flames blue...

Do you mean use the same font as the 'Here littlle kitty'?

And also, the font I used didn't support the ü (alt+641 if you want to spell my name correctly! ), so I just went for a normal u. It is only my first attempt after all!

Well I'm sure there must be a button round here somewhere. Ill have a little play around and see what I can do!
Same to Mick B, if I knew how to chnge the flame colour, I would of!

To change the colour in photoshop I think it is Image>Adjustments>hue/saturation also go Image>Adjustments>Colour Balance

You don't make fonts you download them and put them in the fonts folder

C: / Windows/ Fonts atleast i think thats where they go

helps too look up tutorials and apply them to a sig

oks first of all what you should do is be inspired by the render/stock always pick something with energy to make good sigs since ones without movement look boring

text is hard to get right but always work in a balance with text and image since i class sigs as a piece of graphics design where you need teh balance also saying that make sure it is easy to read and is also not dwarfed by the render

you can make fonts on photoshop but that proccess is a different story for a different day

also seeings its your first time on ps dont be shy to use the layer system and always experiment thats where i learnt half of the stuff i do now

Better!

Dragon to the left, text right bottom corner, less big and you'd have a killer.

lol Spyro, I'm not a complete noob!

I didnt mean MAKE the fonts, I just meant, make them fancier. You know, blend it into the background and put some cool effects on it and stuff!

Oh, and with Vista, right click -> Install. No need to fanny about with directories!

Thanks for all the advice Rob. I really appreciate it!

As for being shy about the layers! I've been putting literally everything I make on a different layer! Should I stick with this method or are their some things that can be put into one layer?

Thanks again guys.

And Broeder, I'm gunna work on your idea in a sec. Only problem is, the image was already clipped square on the right hand side, so it would have left a straight line in the middle of the pic if I moved it to the left. (If that makes sense at all!)

well i would never stick to a few layers also dont flatten or merge all the layers since we are all humans and make mistakes and about the fonts things to make them blend use the blending options just test and mess about to find out there uses they all work differently on certain colours and so on

This is all v.useful advice.
I'm also following this thread with keen interest as I downloaded GIMP a while ago but never really had time to have a play, until now.

Hopefully I will soon have a sig too... whether it'll be any good is another thing

The blue flame was definitely a good move for your sig Blüe Screen.

I'm on to it!! Just need to find a good image to use, and then spend some more time on the GIMP (I know that sounds a bit wrong ).

Well good luck Ging. I haven't used Gimp yet, tho I've heard lots of people mention it. I'll have to give it a go some time. (And yes, it does sounds wrong Ging! )

I just had a go at the old doubled up, one faded into the background, render type thing.

Lol. The funny thing is, the neck of his guitar was coming up from the bottom of the screen to begin with. I decided to delete it cos I thought it looked a bit too phallic!!!

Ex:

please note.... Jimi Hendrix did NOT have a guitar shaped penis! Just wanna make that clear!
